Meet The Dentists

Dr. Gerald Benson

A native of Albany, Georgia, Dr. Benson has practiced general dentistry for more than 30 years, all of that time working, here, in Savannah, Georgia. Upon completing his studies at Young Harris College, Gerald Benson attended the University of Tennessee's College of Dentistry where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. In 1971, Dr. Benson relocated his family to Savannah to join Model Cities Health Center as a general dentist, and eventually established his first dental office at 15 East Jones Street, later moving to 65th Street, and finally to the current location on Paulsen Street.

Dr. Benson is respected by his patients who know he will provide optimal dentistry with a caring approach. He is an avid reader and crossword puzzlist, and will seldom be found without one or the other. For several days every year, Dr Benson continues his perpetual battle with local golf courses, hoping that he will one day graduate from the ranks of bad golfer.

Dr. Gerald Benson, Jr. (Dr. Jerry)

Having come to dentistry as a second career after serving in the US Air Force, Dr. Benson, Jr. spent a considerable amount of time searching for a profession that would combine his interests and strengths. Dentistry suits his micro-oriented skills through its diagnostic, technical and surgical demands and meets his need to positively impact others through the one-on-one relationships it creates between himself and his patients.

Dr. Benson, Jr. attended the US Air Force Academy, and upon graduation served as an officer in the US Air Force until he later began dental school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2006, Jerry Benson, Jr. received a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) and began his career in general dentistry in Charlotte, North Carolina. After relocating to Savannah, Georgia, Dr. Benson worked at the Chatham County Health Department until he joined his father's practice, Gerald M. Benson, D.D.S., in 2007.
